Dear Family,
It's been another busy week in Leones! Today we're in neighbouring
Marcos Juárez; we had an asado and then went and played football in
the rain with the neighbourhood kids. Tonight we hope to do a
baptismal interview for someone who'll be baptised in Marcos Juárez
this week.
The members are quite good in Leones. Many have a multitude of awful
stories about the others, but we're working to improve their cheer and
we're seeing less of bad feelings. Yesterday we visited the Branch
President, Pte. Macris, in his home; he lives in the neighbouring town
of San Marcos. We also taught the ward mission leader's mother-in-law
there.
We've been busy in looking for people to teach, but not so busy in
teaching! We're having trouble finding steady investigators. However,
we do have some promising contacts from last week, such as Agustín, la
laboratory technician in a dairy factory to whom we gave a copy of the
Book of Mormon. We're also anticipating meeting with a local
Evangelical pastor this week--we gave him a pamphlet last week and so
we're working to get him up to reading the Book of Mormon.
The Book of Mormon really is the keystone of our faith! It's a
powerful witness of Christ and of His Gospel (Mormon 7:8-9), and also
testifies unmistakeably that this is His restored Church. It's also
succinct and written for our day.
Elder Cranford is from Tenessee; I would sent you a photo but didn't
bring my camera because of the rain. He's been a bit ill this week so
tomorrow we'll be heading of to a clinic. He's been hit by several
minor problems all at the same time! This week is transfers so I'll
try to get a photo of us before the date just in case.
Thank you for writing to me! I do enjoy your letters very much; I hope
to send you some letters by post as well--I have an small quantity of
them that just haven't been sent yet.
Love,
Elder Schlachter
