February 27, 2012, Leones

Dear Family,

How are you? I am well--the week in Leones has seemed somewhat short.
I sent some photos today from the last week or two in the office and a
bit from here, and some old ones from Villa Dolores that I got from
Elder López (who is finishing the mission in a week or two. I don't
think I mentioned it, but he was in the dormitory room in front of
Bronson's while they were in the MTC two years ago!)

The town reminds me quite a bit of the prairie. It's very flat, the
town has about 10 000 inhabitants, it was built around the railroad,
and right now the national wheat festival is in progress here in town.
There are a lot of retired farmers and old folks.

I quote a bit from my letter to President:

[The Leones Branch was better this week.  The Sunday after I arrived we had nine people at church including the two of us and Brother Gauna, so really there were six with no investigators either.  This week there were 21 at church, though not a single investigator.  It is a lot of work finding people!  We received many referrals this week so we are going to tackle this challenge from that angle as well and look for low hanging fruit from the area book for the last 24 months.]
The families here are quite excellent but need some fellowshipping
within the group. They don't see each other much outside of the
chapel.

Hope you have a great week!

Love,

Elder Schlachter
