Dear Family,
How are you? I am well—I arrived in Leones this morning at 11 AM, and
so Elder Cranford (new companion) and I got to know each other while I
unpacked, and then tidied, etc, and now we're at the chapel to write.
The branch here is apparently somewhat small—regular sacrament
attendance is about thirty or fourty people. Elder Cranford and I are
first and second counsellors in the branch presidency, respectively,
and the branch president is currently ill in a hospital in Córdoba but
is expected to return in a couple weeks.
I'm excited to be here! I feel that we were very blessed in the office
in our proselyting efforts, and I know that we can have even more
success and blessings here as we increase in faith. I am committed to
setting goals that we will accomplish, and I am confident that
Heavenly Father hears our prayers, especially in the interest of the
salvation of His children.
A good example comes from a baptism we had this last Saturday. We
received a reference from a member, and from a returning missionary;
we contacted him about two weeks ago, he went to church, and was
baptised. His wife is a member, and he was ready. It was an example of
how our faith permitted the Lord to work this miracle at this time for
this child of His.
I'm also excited to work as district leader here. I feel that the
missionaries in the district are excellent—I hope to help all of us to
continue progressing as missionaries and as children of God in His
gospel.
Love,
Elder Schlachter
P.S. I did receive the other Christmas presents—thank you! Also, I
haven't called about the debit card; I'll probably just go without!
