Dear Family,
How are you? I'm well; today we've come to Villa María for a training
meeting with President and to spend the day together as a zone. We're
rather spread out geographically so we don't often meet together. I
was pleased that various things that I had forgotten in the office
finally arrived here, for example, my bed sheets, camera, hymn book,
etc! The training was very good. President spoke about Priesthood keys
and gratitude. Good instruction was provided for the district leaders
as well. Right now our challenge in Leones is finding people to
baptize; we ended the week with zero with baptismal dates and zero
investigators at church: total church attendence was 9, including two
missionaries and an excommunicated member! We're expecting better
results this week; a significant rain storm seems to have kept many at
home last week. We're working on improving confidence with the ward
members; one key indicator on that front is the number of lunches that
we are given -- currently that number is two, but I think that it may
double in the coming week. It's inefficient for us to cook (we're
slow), and better for us to strengthen these families. Our ward
mission leader was having a rough week, so we're been working to cheer
him up.
I'll write more this Monday and send photos!
Love,
Elder Schlachter
P.S. The credit card would work... if I could remember the PIN number!
It is written on a paper in my little cabinet with plastic drawers,
though in the form of a calculus problem that I would describe as
being 'sumamente difícil,' though Levi would probably be able to solve
it. The trick is that it need to be done with something like fifteen
or twenty digits of accuracy to end up as the four-digit number!
P.P.S. Thanks for writing me!
